Cameron Norrie advances to Canadian Open round of 32

Cameron Norrie defeated Ignacio Buse in straight sets to book his place in the second round of the Canadian Open.

Cameron Norrie has secured his spot in the round of 32 at the Canadian Open after a straightforward straight-sets victory against Ignacio Buse. The match, which spanned one hour and 29 minutes, ended with a 6-3, 6-3 scoreline in favor of the British player.

Norrie, currently positioned four spots behind the 33rd-ranked Peruvian, demonstrated solid form throughout the contest. He broke Buse’s serve early to seize the opening set. Although Buse managed to level the second set at 2-2, Norrie responded immediately with a break of his own and successfully defended three break points in the following game to maintain control. Despite a medical timeout for Buse, the Peruvian could not force a comeback, and Norrie converted his second match point to seal the win.

This performance follows a positive week for Norrie at the Los Cabos Open, where he ended a six-match losing streak by reaching the semi-finals before falling to Denis Shapovalov. Having already defeated Camilo Ugo Carabelli in Montreal, Norrie now prepares for a challenging second-round encounter against world number seven Alex de Minaur.
