The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced a 15% tariff increase, marking the first adjustment in 32 years.

This change was communicated during a stakeholders’ engagement held in Lagos on Thursday, where the implementation details of the approved tariff hike were discussed.

NPA Managing Director Abubakar Dantsoho, represented by Olalekan Badmus, the Executive Director of Marine and Operations, stated that the rates had remained unchanged for over three decades despite significant economic changes, such as fluctuations in exchange rates, rising wages, increases in fuel and lubricant costs, and inflation.

The tariff increase is expected to impact all NPA operations, and the agency emphasized that the adjustment was necessary to align with the current economic realities.
