The Nigerian Air Force successfully targeted a terrorist hideout in Borno State, resulting in the death of approximately 12 suspected insurgents. This mission was part of Operation HADIN KAI, as detailed by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Intelligence gathered on August 4 pointed to renewed activity in the Chiralia region, a forested area frequently used by insurgents for cover. At 11:40 a.m., an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft identified enemy movement and several structures hidden within the landscape, which were identified as logistics and staging sites.
Following target confirmation, Nigerian Air Force jets executed precision strikes on the identified structures. A post-strike assessment confirmed the total destruction of the camp and the neutralization of 12 insurgents. Secondary explosions observed at the site further indicated that the militants had stored significant amounts of weaponry and supplies at the location.
Military officials stated that this mission illustrates the effectiveness of combining aerial surveillance with precision strikes. By eliminating this base, the military aims to hinder the ability of the terrorist cell to regroup or coordinate future attacks. While the broader region is currently stable, commanders emphasized that offensive operations will continue to address the ongoing threat posed by mobile insurgent groups in the North-East.
