The Nigerian government is actively pursuing increased foreign direct investment, signaling its openness to stronger trade and tourism relations with Saudi Arabia. During the Nigeria–Saudi Diaspora Investment and Tourism Exhibition Summit 2026 held in Abuja, Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris stated that economic policy shifts under the Renewed Hope Agenda have made the nation a prime target for international capital.
Minister Idris encouraged Saudi business leaders to explore high-growth sectors, emphasizing that current structural reforms are designed to boost market competitiveness. The administration is prioritizing progress in infrastructure, agriculture, technology, and security to establish a stable environment for sustainable growth. He noted that the government remains dedicated to improving Nigeria’s global reputation by prioritizing policy transparency and consistency to build investor confidence.
Additionally, the minister called on the Nigerian diaspora to act as key economic intermediaries. He urged stakeholders at the summit to shift from discussions to actionable ventures, such as technology transfers and joint business projects. Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, head of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, echoed these sentiments, noting that diaspora contributors offer essential expertise and networking capabilities beyond mere financial remittances. She encouraged participants to focus on strategic areas like logistics and real estate to maximize the impact of their investments.
