The Lagos State Police Command recently took two individuals into custody on suspicion of armed robbery. During a routine crime prevention patrol in the Odogunyan district, officers, working alongside local vigilantes, intercepted the men while they were carrying a handbag.
Upon spotting the security team, the suspects attempted to escape but were detained after a brief pursuit. A search of the bag revealed a locally manufactured cut-to-size Danne gun along with three live cartridges. The suspects have been identified as 32-year-old Arowolo Damilola and 29-year-old Adewale Adeyinka. They are currently being held for questioning and will face legal proceedings once the investigation finishes.
CP Tijani Fatai, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, praised the joint efforts of his officers and the vigilante group for their quick action. He reaffirmed the police force’s dedication to maintaining public safety and issued a stern warning to criminals operating within the state. Furthermore, the command is encouraging local residents to stay alert and report any unusual behavior to the authorities via official emergency channels.
