The Rivers State Police Command has successfully detained three individuals connected to the killing of two police officers in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area. The officers were performing routine stop-and-search duties on June 29, 2026, when they were ambushed by gunmen who seized their AK-47 rifles.
ASP Blessing Agabe, the police spokesperson, noted that one of the officers died after undergoing an amputation necessitated by the gunshot wounds he suffered during the assault. In response to the tragedy, State Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju ordered an immediate and thorough investigation to apprehend the killers and secure the missing weapons.
The command’s Violence Crime Response Unit utilized intelligence gathering and tactical maneuvers to locate the suspects. The arrested individuals are 34-year-old Maduabuchi Emeka, 42-year-old Chinedu Owhor, and 28-year-old Kamachi Joe. Authorities are actively searching for a fourth suspect who managed to escape. Commissioner Adepoju praised his team’s effectiveness, reinforcing the message that violent criminals will face the full extent of the law in Rivers State.
