Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo recently celebrated the resurgence of heavy traffic in Onitsha on a Monday, viewing it as evidence that the unofficial stay-at-home practice has finally subsided. While attending the Delta State Economic Summit in Asaba, the governor apologized for a brief delay caused by the unexpected congestion in the commercial city.
Soludo noted that the resumption of business activity indicates that his administration’s push to restore normalcy is succeeding. Previously, the government warned that businesses choosing to remain closed on Mondays without reason could face penalties. During his address, the governor emphasized the importance of choosing domestically manufactured goods over imports to drive national growth. He cited his own commitment to wearing Akwete fabric as a practical example of supporting local industry, noting that his administration has pledged financial support to boost production in the Akwete community. Soludo concluded by asserting that if the entire population prioritizes Nigerian-made products, the country could generate millions of new jobs and significantly strengthen the local economy.
