A premature explosion in Borno State has resulted in the deaths of five suspected ISWAP members, including a medical officer and four specialists in improvised explosive devices. The incident took place in Maina Daya Village, situated between Sabon Tumbu and Jubilaram, within the Marte Local Government Area.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the event, identifying the deceased as Usman Dan Fulani, two foreign Arab technicians, and two local bomb-making experts. Intelligence reports suggest the group was crafting explosives intended for use against military supply routes in the Sector 1 area of Operation HADIN KAI.
Experts suggest this loss disrupts ISWAP’s bomb-making infrastructure, potentially reducing their ability to stage roadside attacks in the region. In response, troops under Operation HADIN KAI have been ordered to increase patrols and conduct search operations near Monguno, Marte, and Gamboru Ngala to ensure the group cannot regain its offensive strength.
