Vice President Kashim Shettima has invited both domestic and international investors to explore the diverse economic prospects within Delta State. Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba, he argued that Nigeria’s national progress depends on states leveraging their unique comparative advantages to drive development.
Shettima emphasized that the focus of state-level rivalry should shift from politics toward attracting capital, fostering job creation, and expanding local industry. He noted that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to building a framework that enables states to thrive through economic reforms. By emphasizing individual state strengths—ranging from agriculture and technology to energy and tourism—Nigeria can better realize its collective commercial potential.
Addressing Delta State specifically, the Vice President remarked that the state’s potential extends well beyond its oil reserves. He highlighted Delta’s extensive coastline, abundant natural gas, power infrastructure, and skilled workforce as primary assets for investors. He stressed that while these natural resources are vital, they must be effectively organized and financed to create meaningful employment and improve the lives of the populace. Shettima concluded by reaffirming the Federal Government’s dedication to supporting credible investment initiatives and collaborating with state authorities to remove barriers to business growth.
