Soldiers from the 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison successfully located and dismantled two improvised explosive devices situated on the Gwoza-Wala highway in Borno State. Security commentator Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident via social media.
The discovery occurred around 8:50 a.m. on August 2 as troops conducted standard patrol maneuvers between the Golf Bravo and Papa 2 markers. Upon identifying the hazards, the military cordoned off the site and requested assistance from an Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit.
The specialists managed to safely conduct a controlled detonation of both devices. This mission effectively removed the danger without causing injuries or property destruction. Officials noted that the intervention successfully averted a strike against commuters and security teams. Authorities confirmed that sanitation missions continue throughout the North-East region to prevent militants from sabotaging critical transport lines.
