The Kebbi State Police Command has officially announced that Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza, a member of the Kebbi State High Court, has been released. The judge had been kidnapped from his home in the Bunza Local Government Area on July 26.
SP Bashir Usman, the spokesperson for the state police, released a statement on Monday confirming the judge was freed on August 3. Both the judge’s family and the state Ministry of Justice have verified his safe return. Authorities stated that while the abductors requested a ransom, the police adhered to a strict no-payment policy.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing to pursue the culprits involved in the abduction to bring them to justice. Officials are requesting that the public assist by reporting any helpful information, promising to maintain total anonymity for those who come forward. The police also thanked the local community and security partners for their ongoing cooperation, reiterating their promise to maintain safety and order throughout Kebbi State.
