Rail travel between London Liverpool Street and various destinations has been suspended due to fires near the tracks. Greater Anglia announced that all train movement ceased at 14:57 BST following reports of blazes at Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire.
The London Fire Brigade advised the operator to halt services as multiple fires emerged in close proximity to the tracks. Consequently, routes serving Stansted Airport, Cambridge North, Meridian Water, and Hertford East are experiencing significant disruptions. A spokesperson for Greater Anglia noted that trains may face cancellations, delays, or diversions through Seven Sisters.
Currently, 14 fire engines are addressing a grass fire near Lea Road in Waltham Abbey. It remains uncertain if this is linked to other fires affecting the rail network, and authorities are still clarifying the total number of incidents in the vicinity. Network Rail personnel are present on-site and are attempting to normalize service operations as quickly as conditions allow.
