The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA), has formally notified the Kebbi State Government and the school’s governing board of a pending two-week warning strike. This decision stems from lingering, unaddressed grievances.
In a joint Sunday statement, Branch Chairperson Dr. Isah Musa Fakai and Secretary Dr. Gado A.A. explained that the action serves as a protest against the government’s failure to execute the 2025 ASUU/Federal Government agreement and unresolved staff welfare disputes. The strike is set to take place between July 31 and August 13, 2026.
According to the union, the industrial action will persist until the federal authorities honor the 2025 accord and management improves academic staff conditions. Dr. Gado noted that prior negotiations with stakeholders were unsuccessful, leaving members with no alternative. He further cautioned that if these demands remain unmet once the two-week notice lapses, the union may initiate an indefinite strike.
