Thirteen individuals lost their lives when a small aircraft transporting tourists to the Nazca Lines in Peru went down. Police Major Jorge Andrade confirmed that the victims included 11 passengers and two crew members.
The flight departed from an airport in Pisco, roughly 240 kilometers south of Lima, at approximately 1:00 pm local time. Authorities stated that there were no survivors among those on board. Recovery efforts for the bodies are underway, and the specific cause of the disaster remains unknown. Peru’s civil aviation authority has launched an investigation into the crash.
Footage shared by regional media showed emergency crews navigating the wreckage of the plane. Pisco airport frequently services numerous small aircraft carrying international travelers to the historic Nazca Lines, which are ancient desert geoglyphs designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Similar fatal incidents have been recorded in the past, including crashes in 2022 and 2010 that resulted in multiple fatalities among foreign tourists and local crew.
