INEC Opens Tinubu and Shettima 2027 Nomination Documents for Public Inspection

INEC has published the credentials of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for the 2027 elections, inviting public review in accordance with electoral laws.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially released the academic records and personal details of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for the upcoming 2027 election. This move adheres to the Electoral Act of 2026, which mandates the publication of candidate data within three weeks of submission.

Form EC9 documents for President Tinubu highlight his graduation from Chicago State University in 1979 with a degree in Business Administration. The filings also outline his employment history at Mobil Nigeria Limited, his two terms as Lagos State Governor, and his current presidency. Records indicate his birth date as March 29, 1952, and specify his residence in Ikoyi.

Vice President Shettima’s submitted records provide a comprehensive educational history. This includes his primary education in the former North-Eastern State, his secondary studies at Government Secondary School, Potiskum, and his subsequent university degrees from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Ibadan. His service record covers his National Youth Service Corps tenure from 1989 to 1990.

Citizens may request certified copies of these filings from commission offices. Legal action remains an option for those who identify discrepancies or instances of false information. The official campaign season for the 2027 presidential and legislative races is scheduled to commence on August 19.
