Great Britain enjoyed a successful outing at the European Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy, capturing three gold medals across different events. The women’s four, the PR3 mixed coxed four, and a development men’s four crew all secured top honors.
In the women’s four, the quartet of Eleanor Brinkhoff, Angharad Broughton, Sarah Marshall, and Holly Youd maintained a lead for the majority of the race, successfully fending off a late challenge from Germany to clinch gold. Similarly, the PR3 mixed coxed four team—comprising Frankie Allen, Charlotte Coburn, Josh O’Brien, Jonty Ridley, and coxswain Omar Al-Miqdadi—dominated their competition, finishing nearly six seconds ahead of the Italian boat.
The men’s four development crew, featuring Theo Bell, Josh Brangan, Sam Ford, and Tom O’Sullivan, also emerged victorious. Despite a spirited push from Romania during the closing stages of the race, the British team held their ground to secure the win. These performances in Italy serve as a prelude to the 2026 World Championships, scheduled for August 24-30 in the Netherlands, although the primary men’s squad is currently training in Switzerland and did not participate.
