The Plateau State branch of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has denounced the recent murder of a herdsman, Muhammadu Alh. Rebo, in Ancha Village, Bassa Local Government Area. State Chairman Alh. Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo reported that the victim was fatally assaulted while grazing his livestock in the area.
Babayo characterized the event as an unprovoked act of violence against an innocent Fulani pastoralist. He urged state authorities and security services to launch a transparent investigation to ensure the perpetrators face legal consequences, warning that such incidents jeopardize ongoing efforts to maintain regional stability and peaceful coexistence.
In the wake of the tragedy, MACBAN issued a plea for calm, urging members in the affected region to avoid retaliatory actions. Babayo emphasized that all citizens are entitled to life and safety regardless of their profession. He encouraged the community to work alongside law enforcement to pursue justice through legitimate channels.
