The winning performance occurred during his fifth attempt, allowing him to surpass New Zealand’s Tom Walsh, who had previously led with a 21.03-metre mark. England’s Scott Lincoln secured third place with a throw of 20.99 metres.
Enekwechi highlighted that his victory helped him move past the frustration of finishing fourth at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. While he admitted to facing internal struggles during his career, he remained committed to his goals. The athlete stated that this victory improves his mental approach for upcoming events.
His path to success began during the qualification stage, where he topped Group B with a 20.03-metre effort. This victory complements his previous professional achievements, including a silver medal from the 2018 Commonwealth Games and various African championship titles.
