Fatai Tijani, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, has announced a heightened campaign against security staff who drive commercial vehicles while wearing their uniforms. He explained that this behavior damages the professional reputation of law enforcement agencies.
Speaking at the command headquarters in Ikeja, Tijani confirmed that police will increase monitoring to catch and punish those involved. He clarified that many individuals observed engaging in these transport activities are not actually active-duty officers. Many are imposters or former officers who have been dismissed but continue to wear uniforms to mislead the public.
The commissioner plans to issue new orders to divisional heads, instructing them to detain anyone caught violating these rules or pretending to be an officer. He encouraged the public to report sightings of these individuals to the police, promising that all tips will be handled with urgency.
