Arsenal has finalized a deal with Newcastle United for Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, with the transfer fee set at 90 million euros, or approximately 77 million pounds. This agreement follows two previously rejected bids of 55 million and 70 million pounds.
Reports from France suggest that personal terms between the player and Mikel Arteta’s squad are already settled. While the main fee is established, the two clubs are currently finalizing negotiations regarding agent commissions and performance-related bonuses. A complete resolution is expected shortly.
As part of the original transfer deal, Guimaraes’ former team, Lyon, will benefit from a 20 percent sell-on clause, resulting in a payment of over 8 million euros. Furthermore, Guimaraes has asked to delay his departure for Newcastle’s pre-season camp in La Manga, signaling that his move to North London could be completed within the weekend. The 28-year-old is reportedly motivated by a desire to remain in the Champions League, particularly after Newcastle’s 12th-place finish left them out of European competition. The recent resignation of manager Eddie Howe is also viewed as a significant factor in the midfielder’s decision to exit the club.
