Tobi Amusan failed to retain her Commonwealth Games women’s 100m hurdles title in Glasgow, citing a training injury as the primary cause. The world record holder secured the bronze medal on Thursday evening with a time of 12.60 seconds.
Devynne Charlton from the Bahamas claimed the gold medal in 12.33 seconds, followed by Megan Simmons of Jamaica who took silver at 12.41 seconds. Amusan had previously secured gold medals in this event at the 2018 and 2022 editions of the games.
Speaking after the race, Amusan explained that a severe fall during her training camp left her worried about her knee leading up to the competition. She expressed gratitude for managing to finish the race and earn a spot on the podium despite the physical challenge.
