John Enoh, the Minister of State for Industry, has labeled Aliko Dangote as the primary industrial leader in Nigeria. During a visit to the expansive Dangote Petroleum Refinery, petrochemical plants, and fertilizer facilities in Lagos, Enoh highlighted Dangote’s crucial role in launching the Nigeria Industrial Policy (NIP). The government is aiming to boost the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the national GDP, targeting 20 percent by 2030 and 25 percent by 2035.
Enoh noted that his ministry has successfully reached its initial 90-day implementation goals under the NIP. Furthermore, he is currently negotiating a crude-for-naira agreement for the refinery. To support further industrial growth, the ministry intends to seek Dangote’s partnership on workforce training for 65,000 new personnel, value-chain expansion, and collaborative efforts on free trade zones.
In response, Aliko Dangote praised President Bola Tinubu for selecting Enoh for the position, noting that the minister displays a level of dedication not seen in previous administrations. Aligning with President Tinubu’s goal of reaching a $1 trillion economy, Dangote confirmed that his business empire is actively working toward a $100 billion contribution to that target by 2030.
