Cross River Commissioner Robert Ewa Dies After Attending Exco Meeting
The Cross River State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Robert Ewa, has passed away, as confirmed by the governor’s chief press secretary, Nsa Gill.
Mr. Ewa passed away on Wednesday evening at the Arubah Specialist Hospital in Calabar, the state capital.
He had attended the state’s executive council meeting earlier that day, which was presided over by Governor Bassey Otu. According to Mr. Gill, Ewa had contributed during the meeting but later excused himself.
“Ewa died yesterday. He was present at the state executive council meeting. He even contributed during the presentation,” he said.
“A few minutes later, he excused himself and I think his driver drove him to the clinic. So we never knew that he went to a hospital.
“So it was from the hospital that he went to, that news came back to the governor that he had died.”
Gill mentioned that the governor received the news with shock and that a press release would be issued later.
Ewa had previously served as the Secretary and later the Chairman of the Boki Local Government Council. He also held roles as Special Adviser for Community Relations and Secretary of the Anti-Deforestation Task Force.
