Soldiers from the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully interrupted several kidnapping plots and liberated the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, in Zamfara State.
Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, the force’s spokesperson, reported that the rescue mission was triggered by an emergency call on Tuesday morning regarding insurgent activity near Tsohon-Tasha Street. During the assault on Dr. Aminu Yusuf’s home, gunmen killed a security guard and wounded another person before trying to take the rector and his family. The troops utilized superior force to drive the attackers away, ensuring the rector and his relatives escaped without harm.
That same day, patrol units responded to another alert in Tungan Dorawa community, Barkeji Village, where kidnappers were targeting residents. Despite challenging geographical conditions, the soldiers chased the militants and disrupted their operation. They also intervened in a separate attack targeting a local businessman, Alhaji Azaria. The military successfully rescued Azaria and 21 other individuals who had been abducted from nearby homes.
Additionally, authorities apprehended 45-year-old Falalu Yusuf, who is accused of providing intelligence to the criminal groups. The suspect is currently in custody for further processing. Operation FANSAN YAMMA praised the soldiers for their bravery and reiterated their dedication to stabilizing Zamfara and the surrounding North-West region.
