The Bauchi State Police Command has taken four individuals into custody following two distinct homicide investigations in the Bauchi metropolis and Dandango community. SP Nafiu Habib, the police spokesperson, confirmed that these matters are now being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department to ensure formal prosecution.
The first incident occurred on July 25, 2026, in the Unguwan Kur area. Authorities reported that 21-year-old Al-Amin Hamisu Gidado allegedly stabbed 25-year-old Zahradeen Dan’Azumi Tanko in the back. The victim was transported to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. While Gidado is currently detained, officers are still searching for his accomplice, Yahaya Mu’azu.
A separate case involving the death of 51-year-old Monday Chiroma occurred in Dandango. On July 20, 2026, a group attacked Chiroma and Yelwa Bango over allegations that they caused the death of 20-year-old Jamila Anthony through witchcraft. Chiroma died from his injuries, while Bango required hospitalization. Police have arrested Danjuma Anthony, Ayuba Anthony, and Christopher Adamu in connection with this violence.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu expressed his firm opposition to these violent acts. He warned the public against engaging in jungle justice and emphasized that all grievances should be reported to the authorities rather than taking matters into their own hands. The police are actively working with local groups to locate the remaining individuals involved in both crimes.
