London’s Metropolitan Police have officially closed their inquiry regarding Green Party leader Zack Polanski, following his decision to share an image of an individual wearing a shirt featuring a guillotine and the slogan, “we’re only making plans for Nigel.” Law enforcement officials stated that the act of re-posting the picture does not meet the threshold for a criminal offense.
Nevertheless, the Metropolitan Police clarified that the act of wearing the garment itself should be treated as a crime. Consequently, they have forwarded the documentation to Avon and Somerset Police, the jurisdiction responsible for Bristol, where the image was originally captured. Polanski has publicly apologized, describing the re-post as an unintentional error. A spokesperson for Reform UK criticized the decision, labeling the outcome an example of a two-tier legal system in Britain.
