Bitget Wallet hits 100 million users as everyday payments overtake trading

Bitget Wallet has surpassed 100 million users, with daily payments now outstripping trading volume as the platform becomes a primary financial tool in emerging markets.

Bitget Wallet has reached a milestone of 100 million global users, marking a significant transition where daily payment transactions now exceed trading volume for the platform. This change is particularly visible in regions like Nigeria, which saw $59 billion in crypto inflows between mid-2023 and mid-2024. As noted in a June 2026 International Monetary Fund report, Nigeria accounts for approximately 60 percent of sub-Saharan stablecoin activity, largely driven by small businesses and households rather than speculative traders.

For many users across Africa, Latin America, and South and Southeast Asia, the wallet serves as a stablecoin repository for earning and holding funds. This behavior is largely a response to economic instability, such as the Nigerian naira losing over 40 percent of its value against the dollar in 2024, coupled with high costs for traditional remittance services. To mitigate these issues, Bitget launched a direct bank transfer system in Nigeria in November 2025, allowing instant conversion of assets like USDT and USDC into local currency.

The platform’s growth is also reflected in its card usage, with 150,000 cards issued globally. Spending on these cards surged 191 percent in the first half of 2026, with emerging markets seeing an even steeper increase of 416 percent. COO Alvin Kan noted that users in these regions view the wallet as a standard financial tool rather than a speculative crypto platform. Currently, the average cardholder completes 10 transactions monthly, mirroring typical debit card behavior. Since its 2018 inception, the wallet has evolved from a niche trading tool into a comprehensive payment interface, supported by its Onchain Payments Matrix, which has processed over $177 billion in stablecoin volume.
