Tension in Kano as Heavily Armed Security Personnel Occupy Emir Sanusi’s Palace
Heavily armed policemen and operatives from the State Security Service (SSS) have surrounded the Kano Emir’s Palace at Kofar Kudu, restricting both entry and exit from the premises.
The heightened security measures were put in place due to Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II’s plans to install his newly appointed Wamban Kano, Munir Sanusi, as the District Head of Bichi.
Sources have confirmed that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is scheduled to accompany the newly appointed Wamban Kano to his official district posting in Bichi.
Reliable sources have also confirmed that the Bichi Emir’s Palace is under tight security, with armed policemen deployed to the area.
Two weeks ago, during a visit to Bichi, the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, reiterated that the Bichi Emirate Council remains valid and that Emir Nasiru Ado Bayero is still the legitimate emir.
Meanwhile, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, acting on the newly passed Kano Emirate Council Law, invalidated the positions of five emirs, removing them from their chiefdoms.
However, shortly afterward, the same government appointed three second-class emirs, excluding Bichi, which is now considered a district head’s domain.
