The Jigawa State Police Command recently detained three individuals suspected of involvement in multiple fraud schemes totaling over N22 million. Officers also seized 36 ATM cards linked to banking scams and recovered a motorcycle along with a revolver and ammunition after a confrontation with robbers.
SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the police spokesperson, confirmed that Hafsatu Usman was apprehended in Gombe State after disappearing with N10.5 million entrusted to her in Dutse. The case is now being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
In a separate incident, 21-year-old Ismail Adam Abdullahi from Kaduna State was arrested for his alleged role in a scam targeting a woman in Saudi Arabia. The victim was defrauded of N12.923 million by suspects claiming they could multiply money through spiritual means via WhatsApp. This matter has also been referred to the SCID for further inquiry.
Separately, police at the Kazaure Division arrested 27-year-old Kassim Ali on July 9 after a report from Access Bank. Ali was found in possession of 36 ATM cards and is accused of stealing from bank customers. Authorities are currently searching for his accomplice.
Finally, officers in Gwaram prevented a robbery after discovering a man assaulted on the road on July 16. The victim, Abdullahi Garba, was attacked with a hammer. Pursuing police forced the suspects to abandon the victim’s motorcycle, a firearm, and ammunition, though the assailants managed to escape. Garba is currently receiving medical care.
