Locals from the Girei Local Government Area in Adamawa State organized a demonstration at the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) main office. They are calling for the urgent return of electricity following a two-month period without power.
Organized by the Movement for the Transformation of Nigeria (MOTION), the group blocked the facility’s entry points, blocking both personnel and customers. They claimed that the utility firm has ignored their neighborhoods despite numerous requests.
Andrew Musa, the MOTION state coordinator, stated that the action was driven by deep dissatisfaction regarding the lengthy outage and the absence of clear plans for repair. Musa emphasized that the residents are not there by choice but are reacting to a total lack of progress. Other participants, including Hakeem Abba and Adamu Ahmed, noted that previous discussions with the company and security officials resulted only in empty promises rather than tangible solutions.
