Sam Amadi, who heads the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, stated on Tuesday that the remains of late President Musa Yar’Adua were secretly transported into Nigeria under the cover of darkness. Amadi shared this account during an Arise Television interview while discussing rumors surrounding the death of former Head of State Sani Abacha.
Musa Yar’Adua held the Nigerian presidency from 2007 until his passing in May 2010. Before his national leadership, he was the governor of Katsina State from 1999 to 2007 as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. Following a 2009 trip to Saudi Arabia for pericarditis treatment, public information regarding his status became increasingly opaque.
Amadi, who served as a Special Adviser during that period, noted that the president’s health was treated as a sensitive, hidden matter. He recounted that he and others, including Ojo Maduekwe, traveled to Saudi Arabia to seek clarity on the president’s condition. Amadi emphasized that the lack of transparency surrounding the leader’s death reflects a broader national struggle with historical accuracy. Ultimately, he maintains that the late president’s body arrived in the country at midnight in a clandestine operation, clearing the way for Goodluck Jonathan to assume the presidency.
