Since transferring from RB Leipzig for £77 million in 2023, the 24-year-old has played 122 matches. Despite recent speculation linking him to Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, Gvardiol expressed his enthusiasm for staying, citing the support of the fans and the quality of the club infrastructure as primary factors.
The defender, who contributed to the 2024 Premier League title win, recently recovered from a long-term leg injury. Hugo Viana, the club’s director of football, praised the player as an elite professional and a vital part of the team’s future. This announcement arrives shortly after similar long-term commitments were secured from teammates Phil Foden and Abdukodir Khusanov.
