Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on the citizens of Rivers State to learn from the 2015 election before heading to the polls in 2027. In a statement released Tuesday, Eze attributed the state’s current developmental and political struggles to the electorate’s failure to heed the warnings of former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in 2015.
Amaechi had previously campaigned for Dr. Dakuku Peterside, portraying him as a capable alternative to Nyesom Wike. Eze noted that the subsequent political choices made in 2015 triggered over a decade of insecurity, stagnation, and the erosion of prior government achievements. Addressing the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial race, the ADC leader criticized Nyesom Wike’s ongoing claims of control over the state’s leadership selection. He argued that no single person should dictate the state’s future, calling such influence an affront to democracy.
Eze highlighted that for 24 years, leadership has been concentrated within the upland region through Peter Odili, Amaechi, and Wike. He labeled the continuation of this cycle as inequitable and divisive. Instead, he presented the ADC’s candidate, Dr. Gabriel Pidomson, as a path toward progress. As a representative of the Ogoni ethnic group—a demographic that has yet to hold the state’s highest offices—Pidomson’s potential leadership is presented by Eze as a key step toward achieving regional fairness and long-term stability.
