Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has expressed skepticism regarding the club’s interest in Crystal Palace center-back Maxence Lacroix. While Chelsea is eager to acquire the French international following his request for a transfer, Desailly suggests the team requires a more seasoned leader to anchor their defensive line.
In an interview with Football London, Desailly acknowledged that the 26-year-old could be a solid addition, particularly given Xabi Alonso’s tactical preference for a three-man defense. He noted that Lacroix’s international experience makes him a viable candidate for the squad.
However, Desailly remains unconvinced that Lacroix is the ideal fit. He emphasized that the Blues need an established veteran capable of providing immediate leadership in the center of the pitch rather than a player who still needs to prove himself at the highest level.
