Identical twins Abigail and Emily Roper have etched their names into the record books for Team Wales, each earning a bronze medal in gymnastics during the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. The sisters achieved their success within hours of one another.
Abigail reached the podium in the vault competition, finishing just ahead of her sibling. Shortly thereafter, Emily successfully competed in the uneven bars to secure her own third-place finish. Abigail expressed her shock at the result, noting that she had no specific expectations for her first major tournament final.
Emily acknowledged that while finishing fourth in the vault was initially disheartening, she managed to focus on her routine for the bars to earn a medal. She credited her resilience and ability to regroup under pressure for the positive outcome. Meanwhile, teammate Jemima Taylor placed seventh, while the gold and silver medals were awarded to Kate McDonald of Australia and Ellie Black of Canada, respectively. With these victories, Wales has brought their total medal count to six in the competition.
