Diddy Compares Himself to Donald Trump in Court Filing, Requests Bail for Thanksgiving

Embattled music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs drew a comparison between himself and soon-to-be U.S. President Donald Trump in an effort to secure bail before Thanksgiving.

In a Monday court filing, Combs’ legal team referenced Trump’s legal situation, highlighting similarities between the two cases.

The lawyers cited an appellate ruling from Trump’s election interference case, specifically focusing on the First Amendment in their argument.

‘Only a significant and imminent threat to the administration of criminal justice will support restricting Mr. Trump’s speech,’ the DC Circuit Court of Appeals wrote in December, as recited in Combs’ filing.

Combs’ lawyers argued that the music mogul has a stronger constitutional right than other trial participants to publicly speak out against the prosecution and the criminal trial process, which they claim seeks to strip him of his liberty.

‘Accordingly, the Court should apply Trump’s heightened standard when considering Mr. Combs’ speech here,’ the filing asserted.

This legal brief was filed in response to accusations from prosecutors, who claimed that the alleged sex trafficker was attempting to sway potential jurors by using a ‘public relations campaign’ on his children’s social media accounts.

The accusation arose from a video posted by seven of his children on November 4, celebrating his birthday.

In the video, his son Justin Dior Combs, 30, along with six of Diddy’s other children—including his two-year-old daughter Love—gathered around a birthday cake, with Love singing ‘Happy Birthday.’

Diddy’s voice could be heard in the background of the clip, marking the first time his voice had been heard since his arrest.

Diddy said: ‘I love y’all so much. I can’t wait to see y’all. I just want to say I’m proud of y’all, especially the girls. I mean all of y’all but just for being strong.

‘Thank y’all for being strong and thank y’all for being by my side, supporting me. I love y’all.

‘I got the best family in the world. My birthday. I’m happy. Thank y’all for giving me this call. I love y’all’.

Combs is accused of using an app, ContactMeASAP.com, which is banned by the Bureau of Prisons, to arrange for these videos to be shared online.

Additionally, prosecutors allege that Diddy paid off one witness by calling and texting her 128 times over the span of four days from his jail cell, attempting to persuade her to provide favorable testimony.

It is also claimed that Combs used other inmates’ phone accounts to make calls to individuals he is prohibited from contacting, in an effort to circumvent law enforcement monitoring.

Diddy was federally charged on September 17 with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges that he coerced and abused women over several years, with the assistance of associates and employees, using blackmail, violence, kidnapping, arson, and physical beatings to silence the victims.

Dozens of individuals, some of whom were minors at the time, have filed civil lawsuits against Diddy for a range of offenses, all of which he denies.

Combs is currently making his third attempt to secure bail and has recently stated that his “reputation has been destroyed.”
