Adeoye Adewale Adeniran, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Abeokuta South State Constituency II, has advised Ogun State voters to reject financial influence and fame as primary drivers for the 2027 governorship election. Instead, he believes the focus must remain on competence, honesty, and a genuine commitment to public welfare.
During a gathering of party members in Onikolobo, Adeoye warned against being swayed by expensive campaign tactics. He highlighted the critique leveled against APC candidate Solomon Adeola by Iyabo Obasanjo, the former Ogun Central senatorial candidate. Adeoye argued that such concerns regarding Adeola’s integrity should be treated with gravity rather than disregarded as standard political discourse.
The candidate further pointed to ongoing controversies surrounding the 2026 Federal Budget, noting that the public deserves transparency from officials like Adeola, who previously chaired the Senate Committee on Appropriations. He emphasized that financial power does not equate to effective leadership and urged residents to scrutinize the track records of those vying for office.
He contrasted these concerns with the work of PDP gubernatorial candidate Oladipupo Adebutu, whom he described as a leader rooted in service. Adeoye concluded by promising to advocate for legislation that serves the public interest and encouraged voters to refuse monetary inducements, reminding them that their choices today will shape the state’s future.
