Osun State House of Assembly Speaker Adewale Egbedun and the Odo-Otin APC Progressive Youth have both demanded an official inquiry into a reported intrusion at an INEC facility in the Odo-Otin Local Government Area. In a message shared by his press secretary, Olamide Tiamiyu, Speaker Egbedun denounced the incident at the Oyinlola DC School in Okuku, which involved the reported theft of voter cards. He labeled the event a threat to the democratic process and urged security services to swiftly prosecute those involved.
Conversely, the Odo-Otin APC Progressive Youth group alleged that individuals linked to Speaker Egbedun and the Accord party were the ones who carried out the breach to disrupt the collection of voter cards. The group has pressed the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services to conduct an objective investigation and hold anyone involved accountable, regardless of their political standing.
Osun State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan has officially condemned the disturbance. He stated that the police command has activated tactical and intelligence units to capture the offenders and retrieve the missing cards. The command has further requested that the public provide any relevant information to assist in the ongoing efforts to restore order and ensure a fair electoral environment.
