Officials from the foreign ministry confirmed that special chartered flights will facilitate the conclusion of this evacuation process throughout the weekend. President John Mahama has urged the African Union to prioritize the issue of xenophobic violence on its formal agenda, expressing his dissatisfaction with the South African government’s response to the crisis.
Data compiled by various nations indicates that upwards of 160,000 foreign residents have departed South Africa since May due to the escalating instability.
