Kim Jong Un Orders Mass Production of Attack Drones
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered the “mass production” of attack drones, according to state media outlet KCNA.
This development comes as North Korea deepens its military cooperation with Russia.
Pyongyang initially unveiled its attack drones in August, but experts believe the capability is largely a result of its growing alliance with Russia.
The move signals North Korea’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities through advanced drone technology amidst increasing international concerns.
On Thursday, Kim supervised a drone test intended for targeting both land and sea objectives.
“He underscored the need to build a serial production system as early as possible and go into full-scale mass production,” KCNA said.
The unmanned drones are designed to carry explosives and deliberately crash into enemy targets, functioning similarly to guided missiles.
According to KCNA, Thursday’s test demonstrated the drones’ ability to accurately strike targets after flying along pre-determined paths.
“The suicide attack drones to be used within different striking ranges are to perform a mission to precisely attack any enemy targets on the ground and in the sea,” the agency said.
