NPF Launches Investigation into Misconduct on Lagos-Benin Expressway

Inspector General Olatunji Disu has ordered an investigation into police officers filmed acting unprofessionally and using derogatory ethnic remarks on the Lagos-Benin Expressway.

Following the emergence of a viral video showing police officers acting unprofessionally on the Lagos-Benin Expressway, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has mandated a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. The Commissioner of Police for the Ondo State Command is tasked with evaluating the actions of the officers to ensure that any findings result in necessary disciplinary measures.

According to Force Public Relations Officer CSP Aniete Iniedu, the officers are accused of unprofessional behavior and using offensive ethnic language toward a civilian. The group, consisting of one Assistant Superintendent and three Inspectors, has been detained while awaiting an orderly room trial.

The Nigeria Police Force stated that such actions contradict its core values. Officials emphasized that ethnic discrimination and disrespect toward citizens are strictly prohibited. The department remains focused on upholding ethical standards and fostering community trust.
