English gymnast Gabriel Langton has been given the all-clear after a harrowing three-meter fall during the Commonwealth Games. The incident occurred on Friday when the 19-year-old athlete missed his grip on the horizontal bar, landing on his head.
Following his emergency transport to the hospital, Team England reported that Saturday’s medical scans yielded favorable results. Langton is expected to be discharged later this evening. He is currently in high spirits and expressed appreciation for the medical care he received, as well as the overwhelming support from fans. He intends to rejoin his teammates soon to collect the silver medal they earned in his absence.
The competition faced a significant delay as medical personnel stabilized and removed Langton via stretcher. Reflecting on the event, fellow gymnast Luke Whitehouse noted that the team had to refocus mentally to finish their routines, while Canadian athlete Felix Dolci highlighted the inherent risks and complexity of the sport. Langton had entered the competition as a last-minute replacement for the injured Max Whitlock.
