The Leigh Leopards secured their fifth consecutive victory by overcoming Warrington Wolves in a clash of play-off hopefuls. This win elevates Leigh to fifth place in the Super League, placing them ahead of Hull KR and tied on points with Warrington, who have now lost three of their last four matches.
David Armstrong and Lachlan Lam provided early tries to establish an advantage that the Leopards maintained throughout the contest. Although Warrington’s Toafofoa Sipley responded, further scores from Innes Senior, Joe Ofahengaue, and Umyla Hanley pushed the home side out of reach. Albert Hopoate added a late score for the Wolves, but it served only as a consolation.
Leigh have shown impressive form, winning 10 of their past 12 matches. Their recent success includes a victory over Warrington at Magic Weekend. With five of their remaining seven fixtures scheduled at their home ground, Leigh appear firmly positioned in the race for the top six.
The match saw physical exchanges, including a period in the second half where both Josh Charnley of Leigh and Leon Hayes of Warrington were sent to the sin-bin. Ofahengaue and Hanley eventually cemented the win with late tries, leaving the Leopards prepared for their upcoming Friday night match against Wigan Warriors.
