Leaders in the Bomadi Urban Community, situated in Delta State, have promised to bolster protection for residents and business owners after a series of thefts hit the Bomadi-Overside commercial district. Many of the affected shop owners belong to the Igbo business community.
Community Chairman Famous Ebiare stated that the organization plans to escalate these security concerns to the Bomadi Local Government Security Council. The proposal includes setting up new vigilante outposts to deter criminal activity. Ebiare emphasized that because Bomadi-Overside is a vital trading center for surrounding riverine areas, protecting local commerce is a top priority.
During his address, Ebiare corrected reports that referred to the area as Esenaebe, confirming that the proper name is Bomadi-Overside. He also clarified that Wareka-emi Osuobeni holds the legitimate title of community chairman, noting that no rival leadership exists. Ebiare stated that clear communication regarding the area’s identity and governance is essential as they work toward resolving the current security issues.
