Tinubu’s Representation at Arab-Islamic Summit is an Impeachable Offense – APC Chieftain
Charles Udeogaranya, a former presidential aspirant from the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s participation in the Arab-Islamic Summit, calling it a severe breach of the Nigerian Constitution.
Udeogaranya contended that as a secular state, Nigeria is neither an Arab nor an Islamic nation, and that Tinubu’s actions violate his oath to uphold the constitution. He argued that such actions could be grounds for impeachment, given the constitutional separation of religion and state in Nigeria.
“To, therefore, unilaterally drag Nigeria into Arab and Islamic nation’s affairs is a grievous disparaging of the Nigerian people and its Constitution,” Udeogaranya said.
Udeogaranya also emphasized that Nigeria is predominantly a Christian nation, highlighting that the President’s actions at the Arab-Islamic Summit were a disrespectful violation of the country’s identity. He expressed regret over what he sees as a disregard for Nigeria’s true stance on the global stage.
The former presidential candidate called on the National Assembly to caution President Tinubu and ensure that such actions are avoided in the future.
He further pointed out that a significant portion of Nigerians are Christians and that the majority support Israel in international matters, reinforcing his argument against the President’s participation in the summit.
