Ameer Habib Tajje, the leader of the newly emerged terrorist group Lakurawa, has issued a direct warning to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, urging him to renounce his criminal activities.

According to a statement by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Tajje is preparing to send a powerful delegation to Turji to convey this message.

According to Makama, “In a strange turn of events, Ameer Habib Tajje, the influential leader of the Lakurawa group in the northwestern region of Sokoto, is reportedly preparing to send a powerful delegation to bandit leader Bello Turji, demanding his complete renouncement of criminal activities.”

Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader on the watchlist of Nigeria’s security agencies, has caused significant havoc in the North-West of the country.

His criminal activities include widespread kidnapping and imposing levies on farmers, forcing them to pay before they can harvest their crops.

In November 2024, the newly emerged jihadist terror group, Lakurawa, resurfaced in northern Nigeria, killing about 15 people in Kebbi State.

The group, which operates primarily around Kebbi and Sokoto states, has begun imposing taxes and levies on local communities.

On November 6, 2024, Lakurawa made its presence felt by enforcing these demands in Sokoto State, further escalating tensions in the region.
