The brothers of the late actor Chadwick Boseman have initiated legal action against his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, concerning the administration of his estate. Derrick and Kevin Boseman submitted a petition to a Los Angeles court seeking to remove Ledward as the estate’s controller, alleging that she has failed to properly distribute assets.
Boseman, who gained international fame for his portrayal of T’Challa in the 2018 film Black Panther, passed away in 2020 at age 43 following a battle with colon cancer. At the time of his death, he left behind assets estimated at $3.8 million without a formal will.
According to the court filing, an initial judicial decision allocated 50% of the estate to Ledward, who served as administrator, and 25% to each of the actor’s parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman. The brothers argue that Ledward has not fulfilled these requirements and has maintained excessive control over the funds. They further contend that she has created a lack of transparency regarding the company established to manage Boseman’s likeness and intellectual property rights, effectively excluding his parents from these operations.
The legal document suggests that this conduct has caused financial harm and emotional distress to the actor’s aging parents. In a public statement, the brothers emphasized their commitment to transparency and the honorable stewardship of their brother’s legacy. Legal representatives for Ledward have been contacted for comment regarding these claims.
