A joint mission involving the Operation HADIN KAI task force and the Yobe State Hunters Group resulted in the arrest of five individuals accused of kidnapping in the Fune Local Government Area. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the raid took place on July 23 at approximately 2:00 p.m. inside Jegalari village.
Soldiers from the 233 Battalion stationed at the Damaturu Military Cantonment executed the maneuver alongside local hunters. The apprehended suspects are Hassan Lawan, 28; Isah Bello, 30; Haruna Suleiman, 20; Ibrahim Bello, 20; and Ahmadu Haruna, 19. Authorities seized several weapons during the sweep, including three homemade AK-47 rifles, a pistol, and various rounds of ammunition, alongside four mobile phones.
Initial reports indicate the men are from Ririn Village in Kano State and identified themselves as cattle herders. They are currently being held by the military for additional questioning regarding their possible connections to criminal syndicates. This mission is part of a broader strategy to disrupt illegal networks throughout the North-East. While the region is currently stable, security forces are maintaining a heightened state of awareness.
