The Oduduwa Citizen Liberation Vanguard (OCLV) has formally requested that the Ekiti State government refrain from modifying the established selection procedure for the new Alara of Aramoko-Ekiti. In a message released by coordinator Korede Olanipekun and secretary Abiola Kupolati, the group cautioned that any administrative attempt to bypass the official Chieftaincy Declaration could result in significant local unrest and court action.
The group emphasized that Governor Biodun Oyebanji must allow the recognized Kingmakers to fulfill their duties without external pressure. The selection involved eight candidates from the Olokun Ruling House. Following an Ifa divination process, three finalists were selected: Tope Ademiluyi, Oluwafemi Akinlabi, and Adewumi Adetoyinbo. During the subsequent vote by the 12 Kingmakers, Akinlabi and Ademiluyi both received six votes, while Adetoyinbo received none.
OCLV noted that the entire process occurred under the observation of the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs. The group strongly criticized reported efforts to introduce a secondary Ifa consultation, arguing that this deviates from the gazetted legal framework. They suggested that any stalemate should be resolved through another round of voting by the Kingmakers, a method used during previous succession cycles in the community.
Furthermore, the organization denied claims that the Kingmakers were influenced by bribery, demanding that such accusations be formally investigated. Ultimately, the OCLV maintained that its involvement serves to protect the rule of law and the traditional integrity of the institution, rather than backing any specific candidate.
