Basketball star Chris Paul recently weighed in on the long-standing debate regarding who is the superior player between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Both icons participated in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a tournament ultimately claimed by Spain.
During the competition, Ronaldo guided the Portuguese squad to the Round of 16, where they were eliminated following a defeat by the eventual winners, Spain. Argentina, captained by Messi, advanced all the way to the final match but fell short against the Spanish team.
Speaking with HITC, Paul acknowledged the difficulty of comparing the two athletes. While expressing admiration for Messi’s skill and passion, the NBA veteran revealed his personal preference. He stated that he tends to follow Ronaldo’s career more closely. Together, these two legendary forwards have secured a combined total of 13 Ballon d’Or trophies throughout their careers.
